Rihanna and A$AP Rocky enjoyed a glamorous date evening on the red carpet at the 2025 Gotham Awards.
At 37, Rihanna turned heads in a Balenciaga gown by Pierpaolo Piccioli, featuring a dramatic drop waist and an elegant train.
Her ensemble was completed with a coordinating feather cap, sleek black leather gloves, and a striking purple necklace adorned with jewels.
A$AP Rocky, whose given name is Rakim Mayers and also 37, chose a sleek black Chanel suit with matching leather boots.
He added a white dress shirt, a black and white striped tie and completed his outfit with dazzling diamond earrings.
The music artist and former Met Gala co-chair got nominated for Breakthrough Performer thanks to his role in Spike Lee's Highest 2 Lowest.
During a July episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lee, who is 68, commented, “Yes, don’t underestimate A$AP. In this movie, Denzel [Washington] and A$AP battle it out."
“What’s fascinating is, even before my involvement with this project, I always felt A$AP had a likeness to Denzel, almost as if he could be Denzel’s son," shared the Academy Award-winning director back then. "This resemblance on-screen brings a unique father-son dynamic."
Lee further disclosed that some actors often find it daunting to share a scene with Washington, yet A$AP managed confidently.
"Don’t underestimate A$AP," Lee elaborated. "Having directed five films with Denzel, I often see co-stars get intimidated by him. He truly is one of the greatest actors alive today, but A$AP stood his ground. They genuinely matched each other’s intensity in the scenes."
Ultimately, the accolade at the Gotham Awards went to Abou Sangaré for Souleymane’s Story.
Before their red carpet appearance, Rihanna gave fans a glimpse into her private life, featuring photos of her pregnancy with her daughter Rocki and her sons RZA, 3, and 2-year-old Riot.
She shared these in a Sunday Instagram post as part of celebrating Barbados Independence Day.
“Cheers to Barbados, MY HOME, on our 59th year of Independence and our 4th as a Republic!” Rihanna penned in her caption, offering respectful mentions to Barbados’ president, Jeffrey Bostic, and Prime Minister Mia Mottley. “Barbados, I L🇧🇧VE YOU!” she included.
In Rihanna's post, several images of her and her family basking in her homeland were shared, such as a heartwarming image of RZA on her lap, inspecting a piece of sugar cane and a nostalgic photo with A$AP and RZA on the lawn during her pregnancy.
